Sport(s) Played: Lacrosse

Q1: Why did you choose the sport(s) that you play?
I chose to play lacrosse because when I began playing, the middle school lacrosse program was just starting. I remember high school girls as well as my middle school coach asking students to join the team so they could start the program. I thought that I might as well give it a try and I fell in love with lacrosse.

Q2: What is your favorite Madeira sports memory?
My favorite Madeira sports memory is our lacrosse team senior night in 2023. This night was very special because I was the one that put in the work to plan and create this special moment for the seniors. Those teammates were some of my closest friends and it was really special to celebrate them and their accomplishments.

Q3: How do you get motivated to practice each and every day?
I get motivated for practice every day by getting in the right mindset. For me this year as a senior it’s been, “you only have so many practices left”. Knowing that is my last year to play lacrosse, I am excited for practice every single day. I try not to take for granted something I know I will miss so much next spring.

Q4: What super power do you wish you had and how would you use it?
If I had one superpower it would be superhuman speed. This would definitely be useful on the lacrosse field for a fast break.

Q5: Which athlete(s) would you like to have dinner with and what would you talk about?
I would like to have dinner with Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes. We would talk about what makes them so great. Both of these quarterbacks are some of the best in football history, how did they become that? And what motivates them?

Q6: What makes a great teammate?
A great teammate always has the right attitude. I think that is the most important characteristic for a teammate. That means they don’t complain in practice when we do a drill they don’t like. They don’t get annoyed when we have to move the goals or put away a ball bag. They are always there ready to play, get better, and have fun.

Q7: What is on your pre-game playlist?
One song on my pregame playlist is Beat Box 4 by NLE Choppa. Some of my teammates and I listen to this song before almost every game.

Q8: What is the funniest thing that you have seen or happened to you in a practice or game?
The funniest thing that happened was in a game last year. A girl named Berit, who was a foreign exchange student, joined our lacrosse team. As she was learning how to play lacrosse we put her in a game. Berit finally got the ball but was unfortunately triple teamed on the sideline. As Berit didn’t know what to do, she launched the ball backwards over her head across the field. Our team had never laughed so hard.

Q9: What is next after you graduate?
After I graduate, I will be attending the University of Cincinnati and studying Finance.

Q10: What advice would you give an 8th grade athlete as they move on to high school sports?
The advice I would give to an 8th grader is participate and work hard. I felt like as a freshman I wasn’t really a part of the team, even though I was. Do not let that discourage you. Participate in everything possible and work hard at practice and lifting. The only way to get better and to show your coaches that you deserve to play is through hard work on the field and in the weightroom.
