Sport(s) Played: Golf, Basketball, Lacrosse
Q1: Why did you choose the sport(s) that you play?
I started playing golf because it was a fun activity I liked to do with my dad. As I got older, I developed a love for the game and the mindset it takes to be good at it. I started playing basketball because I loved the team aspect of the sport, and I gained some of my strongest friendships through basketball. Lastly, I began playing lacrosse in fifth grade because my friends encouraged me to try it. From then on, I loved the strategy of the game along with the fun opportunities it has brought me.
Q2: What is your favorite Madeira sports memory?
My favorite sports memory was making it to state for golf during my junior year. I loved watching my team grow and getting to spend time with them during that weekend. It was so fun to have our whole school and community cheer for us, and it was an experience I will never forget. One other part that made it so special is that we also got to bring home a trophy.
Q3: How do you get motivated to practice each and every day?
I think about my goals for each season. This helps me to want to work hard at practice because I know it is helping to prepare me to succeed. I also love being with my teammates and playing these sports which makes going to practice exciting.
Q4: Do you have any pre-game rituals or traditions?
I love to listen to music and braid my hair.
Q5: Who’s your favorite athlete to look up to?
My favorite athlete to look up to is Nelly Korda. I remember when I got to watch her play at the Kroger Invitationals at Kenwood and TPC riverbend. She was so focused and determined to win. She helps to motivate me to practice and develop stronger skills in all my sports but especially golf.
Q6: What makes a great teammate?
A great teammate is someone who always cheers for others. They make sure that everyone is having fun and feeling happy. They encourage others to play their best and forget about their mistakes. Great teammates also push each other to be better. They help to create a fun and competitive environment where their team can thrive.
Q7: What is on your pre-game playlist?
I love to listen to Beyoncé before my games or matches.
Q8: What is the funniest thing that you have seen or happened to you in a practice or game?
During a lacrosse game, the other team’s scorekeeper turned on Gangnam Style, and the whole field danced to it in the middle of the game.
Q9: What is next after you graduate?
I plan to go to college to become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.
Q10: What advice would you give an 8th grade athlete as they move on to high school sports?
Get involved in everything and try new things. During lacrosse seasons, many people would join our team to try the sport. It was so much fun because I was able to meet so many more people and create more relationships. Play as many sports as you can. I loved being able to play three sports and meet three times as many people.
