Q1: Why did you choose the sport(s) that you play?
I tried out a bunch of different sports at Madeira, and swimming was the one that really clicked for me.
Q2: What is your favorite Madeira sports memory?
Going to state 3 different years with my teammates.
Q3: How do you get motivated to practice each and every day?
Getting to see my teammates and trying to accomplish my goals.
Q4: What superpower do you wish you had and how would you use it?
Breathing underwater so I could do a whole race without taking a breath.
Q5: Which athlete(s) would you like to have dinner with and what would you talk about?
Adam Peaty, Leon Marchand, LeBron James, and Baker Mayfield because those are my idols in sports and I could ask them about their experiences and motivations for working so hard.
Q6: What makes a great teammate?
Someone who listens and puts team success over personal success.
Q7: What is on your pre-game playlist?
Usually, a mix of rap and pop to get pumped up.
Q8: What is the funniest thing that you have seen or happened to you in a practice or game?
When me and Owen Lichtenberg buzzed our hair for state junior year.
Q9: What is next after you graduate?
I plan on attending a 4-year university studying computer engineering.
Q10: What advice would you give an 8th grade athlete as they move on to high school sports?
Hard work will always beat talent. So, if you put the time in, you will see the results you want eventually. Find something you are passionate enough about that putting the work in doesn’t feel like a burden.
