Sport(s) Played: Football and Baseball

Q1: Why did you choose the sport(s) that you play?
The sports I played were chosen for me by my older brothers. When I was young, I wanted to be just like them so I played the same sports that they did.

Q2: What is your favorite Madeira sports memory?
My favorite Madeira sports memory was our playoff win against Zane Trace this football season. We had to drive two hours away and play in the middle of nowhere. After winning that game we were officially the winningest team in Madeira football history.

Q3: How do you get motivated to practice each and every day?
In all honesty, I don’t get motivated every day. It takes discipline. There’ll be days when you feel hurt or tired and don’t want to keep going. You have to be disciplined and realize that you have to do the work to get the results you want.

Q4: What is your favorite pre-game meal and why do you eat that?
My pregame consists of a lot of water, a cliff bar, and some kind of fruit. I like to keep it light so I can feel fast during my game.

Q5: Which athlete do you admire most and why?
Kyrie Irving. He has been controversial in the media for years; however, he is very true to himself and seems very down to earth. He is a very well-spoken person and I admire that.

Q6: What makes a great teammate?
A great teammate is someone who holds others accountable. You need to know when to get on someone and when to encourage them. Make sure you practice what you preach.

Q7: What is on your pre-game playlist?
Clairo. I don’t like to get too hyped before a game so I like to listen to Clairo because her music calms me down.

Q8: What is the funniest thing that you have seen or happened to you in a practice or game?
During our sophomore year, my teammate Zach Schneider had a walk-off walk against Taylor. He threw the bat about 20 feet in the air and we all ran over and celebrated with him. It was hilarious.

Q9: What is next after you graduate?
I plan to attend the University of Tennessee. I will be studying Animal Science and figuring out what I’d like to do with my life.

Q10: What advice would you give an 8th grade athlete as they move on to high school sports?
I would tell them to just love the process of their sport. Freshman year me wouldn’t even recognize who I am now because of how much I have developed throughout my high school career. Remember why you fell in love with the game. Don’t take it too seriously. high school sports are supposed to be fun!
